Sustainability
"Hilton was founded on the noble premise that travel can make the world a better place and that premise still guide us today"
Hilton has set specific targets for reducing its environmental impact, such as reducing carbon emissions by 61% by 2030 and reducing water consumption by 50% by 2030. The company has been recognized for its sustainability efforts by organizations such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, the Carbon Disclosure Project, and the World Travel & Tourism Council.
Hilton Cabo Verde's Contribution
The hotel industry has a significant impact on the environment, and reducing its environmental footprint is critical. Hilton Cabo Verde has taken several measures to reduce our environmental impact, including reducing the use of plastic, waste, and carbon emissions. However, these measures can be challenging, especially in areas where the availability of goods is limited, such as in Cabo Verde.

Plastic Reduction
Reducing plastic has become an urgent global priority due to the significant negative impact that plastic waste has on the environment. Plastic pollution is a severe threat to the health of our oceans, wildlife, and ecosystems, and it also poses a risk to human health.
At Hilton Cabo Verde, we are compromised on reducing the use of plastic as much as possible. Therefore, we try to reduce as much as possible our plastic use by providing all of our guests with filtered glass water bottles in all rooms, restaurants, and bars. All avoidable plastic items such as plastic straws, takeaway containers, and glasses are plastic-free.

Our water bottles are sterilized every day and the water goes through several filters and quality tests before reaching our customers.
We contribute with beach cleanups and underwater cleanups in collaboration with local associations.

Food Waste Reduction
Reducing food waste is essential to address global food insecurity and promote sustainability. Every year, around one-third of all food produced globally, is wasted, which is not only a significant economic loss but also has environmental consequences.
Reducing food waste can be done at various stages of the food supply chain, from production to consumption. This can include improving storage and transport, reducing overproduction, and educating consumers on food waste reduction strategies.
